Breast Augmentation Q & A

What is breast augmentation?

Breast augmentation uses implants to increase the size or change the shape of your breasts. Breast augmentation surgery can enhance the appearance of your breasts in a way that fits your body and meets your goals for your appearance.

When should I consider breast augmentation?

Reasons women might consider breast augmentation include:

  • Breasts are smaller than you’d like
  • Breasts are unevenly sized
  • Breasts are asymmetrical
  • Small breasts prevent you from wearing the clothing you like
  • Small breasts undermine your confidence
  • Breasts changed appearance after pregnancy and breastfeeding
  • Breast fullness loss due to aging
  • Breast fullness loss due to weight loss
  • Breast loss due to mastectomy

Breast augmentation is a uniquely personal decision. It’s all about helping you look great, feel confident, and become happy with your appearance.

What is the best breast augmentation method?

There are many approaches to breast augmentation, but most fall into two categories: over the muscle, in which the implant sits atop the chest muscle, and under the muscle, in which the implant is inserted in a pocket under the chest muscle.

Both approaches have benefits and drawbacks. To maximize the benefits, Dr. Madni uses a combination procedure called dual plane breast augmentation.

With dual plane surgery, the upper part of the implant goes beneath the chest muscle, and the lower part sits just beneath your breast tissue.

What are the advantages of dual plane breast augmentation?

A dual plane breast lift provides a natural appearance since the lower part of the implant is covered only by your breast tissue. That creates fullness in the lower part of the breast, just as natural breasts are fuller at the bottom, and avoids a stuck-on look.

A dual plane gives a more natural look with a fuller lower pole. In contrast, the muscle coverage over the top of the implant provides a more natural, less stuck-on appearance, reducing the visibility of the edges of the implant.

Dr. Madni customizes your breast augmentation according to your unique anatomy and goals, and he can help you select the specific implant type (saline or silicone) and size.

Dual plane breast augmentation is so successful that it’s usually the approach chosen for breast implant revisions as well. If you’re interested in breast augmentation, call the office of Tarik Madni, MD, or click the online booking feature to arrange your consultation today.
