Injectables Q & A

What are neurotoxin injectables?

Neurotoxin injectables like Botox®, Dysport®, Jeuveau®, and Xeomin® all take a similar approach to helping you look your very best. Each is formulated from a neurotoxin called Botulinum toxin type A, which is found naturally in lakes, soil, and forests.

This substance is dangerous in certain concentrations, but the volume used in cosmetic treatments is carefully controlled and perfectly safe. Neurotoxin injectables have been around for decades and are backed by hundreds of clinical trials and studies.

These injectable treatments work by temporarily impeding the ability of targeted muscle fibers to go through their full range of motion. That means the muscles in the treatment area can still create normal facial expressions but won’t be strong enough to tug and pull your skin into lines, folds, and wrinkles.

Neurotoxin injectables create results that last around three months. They’re a wonderful option for treating horizontal forehead lines, crow’s feet, and frown lines.

How do dermal filler injectables work?

Dermal fillers work to replace some of the facial volume you naturally lose over time. When you’re young, a thick layer of collagen and elastin pads your skin, giving your face the rounded contouring associated with youth.

You naturally lose much of that collagen and elastin as the years pass. Your body doesn’t replace those tissues without prompting, which is where dermal fillers come in.

Not only do dermal fillers enhance volume by placing a gel-like layer into areas of your skin where additional volume is desired, but treatments also prompt your body to create new collagen and elastin.

Eventually, the filler material is safely absorbed and processed through your lymphatic system, but your new collagen and elastin remain in place. Some of the fillers available through Tarik Madni, MD, include Juvederm®, Restylane, and RHA.

How can injectables create a liquid facelift?

The term “liquid facelift” refers to a combination of injectable treatments designed to temporarily turn back the hands of time. Just as your face is unlike anyone else's, your liquid facelift is also customized.

By carefully using neurotoxin injectables and dermal fillers, it’s possible to smooth away lines and wrinkles while enhancing facial volume, creating noticeable improvements without the risks and recovery time of plastic surgery.

Dr. Madni can add fillers and volume to many regions of the face; some popular areas include cheeks, nasolabial folds, tear troughs, perioral region, and lips
